A new study by Wyatt Worldwide shows that senior workers who do not possess health care coverage outside of work defer retirement to maintain their health care coverage. Additionally, the presence or absence of an employer-provided pension plan also determines when employees retire.

According to the Wyatt Worldwide study, employees who don’t expect to receive health care as a retirement benefit are 16% less likely to retire in a given year, than are employees who have access to health care insurance from another source.
