Twice each year, the Vallarta Zoo allows the public to spend time with the zoo’s baby “big cats.” Unheard of in the US, but the Puerto Vallarta Zoo has enjoyed an extraordinary rate of success when it comes to feline breeding. Between two and three dozen new cats are born at the Zoo each year.

Three brothers opened the zoo in 2005 to fulfill a lifelong dream. The brothers now sell or trade big kitties to other zoo programs, but before they do, they allow the public to see and play with the big babies. Currently, the big cat collection includes lions, jaguars, cougars, leopards, Bengal tigers and white tigers. The Vallarta Zoo also hosts other animals.
