250 New Million Trees At Home In Mexico
If the preservation of nature is important to you, you’ll be happy to know that Mexico has asked the United Nations to certify that 250 million trees were planted in Mexico in 2007 as part of Mexico’s commitment to provide 25% of the global goal of 1 billion trees to support reforestation. Mexico’s commitment to the environment is just one of the many reasons people from all over the world are choosing to build a home in Mexico.
More than 125 million trees were planted in just six of Mexico’s 31 states. Jalisco, home to Puerto Vallarta now has nearly 21 million more trees as the result of the 2007 ProArbol program. Jalisco, which is home to some of the most beautiful jungle in Mexico, eagerly participated in the reforestation plan.
With the UN designation, Mexico would like the world to recognize that the country is concerned with the conservation and support of its natural resources, including its jungles, forests, rivers and coastlands. Mexico already supports dozens of wildlife preserves throughout the country, including those on land and in the waters around Mexico’s coasts.
This careful attention to the preservation of nature has attracted many people who want to build a home in Mexico. In addition to land conservation and reforestation, many cities – including Puerto Vallarta and San Pancho – have created meaningful recycling programs to collect recyclables, to educate residents about the short- and long-term benefits of recycling and to encourage the involvement of the area’s youth in recycling, conservation, and land and wildlife preservation.
Puerto Vallarta is the ideal place to build environmentally friendly homes that incorporate alternative power sources, and carry a low carbon footprint. Careful design and the use of ecologically responsible building materials can produce a beautiful, low-impact home in Mexico. The abundance of sun and the consistency of ocean breezes can contribute to the home’s overall comfort by generating emission-free electricity, and natural cooling – which reduces electrical consumption.
