The Mexican Chamber of Commerce for Tourism estimated that tourism grew by 7.3 percent in Mexico in 2007. That growth rate exceeded Mexico’s total economic growth rate of 6.3 percent. The Mexican government is doing all it can to encourage tourism because it is a significant source of employment for Mexican workers.
